Cedar Break neighbourhood
Our immediate neighbourhood is a quiet rural one. Ben Nevis is right in front of our property. Most guests who come to stay enjoy a stroll around the immediate area. There is a really nice walk down to the River Lochy which is popular with fly-fishermen. Just along the country road from Cedar Break are two well-stocked trout ponds and you can hire fishing gear at Torlundy Farm. The Ben is often reflected in these ponds and the scene is spectacular.
3 minutes from our door is a stables and pasture where sheep, horses and Highland cattle graze in harmony.
About 5 minutes from Cedar Break is the Ben Nevis North Face car park where you can take a short walk up through the forest to just above the tree line and enjoy the views of Ben Nevis and the surrounding countryside. We often walk there as a family when the weather is good.
The Nevis Range gondola is a 5 minute drive and from the bottom station and cafe you can take a ride to the top station and go walking, take photos, buy souvenirs, have a cuppa or a beer....
In nearby Leannachan Forest there are 35 kilometres of forest paths and cycle routes just waiting for you...
There is a paved cycle/walking path all the way to Fort William centre from Tomacharich and this is a fantastic facility. Its a 10 minute ride down to the Road to the Isles Filling Station where you can buy some basic provisions, newspapers, sweets and drinks. The views along the way are good and the path goes straight to the Fort William Golf Club too...
